Burped

Posted under Buah-buahan tempatan, Good eats. Or not

And I smell durian. Yes, we ate durian tonight . And it was so yummy. I did not eat it with pulut (glutinous rice) like I did here , but it was extra special because those yummy fruits fell down from its trees later in the afternoon.

So they were very fresh, quite delicious (for it was durian kampong, which I don’t really favor), creamy, yummy. OK, I already said yummy, right?

So anyway, I did nothing today. I browsed online (what else is new), and play with Tia.

I was so sleepy during late afternoon that I fall asleep for about half an hour! And Tia was not! She was busy watching, or rather imitating whatever she was watching. She loves doing that, especially doing the Ellie. Omigosh, she waved her arm in front of her face, and scrunched her face, puckering her lips up, and started to imitate the elephant trumpeting.

It is so friggin’ hilarious, OK. Even funnier when she danced like pocoyo.

My little daughter is kinda nutty.

Pimpin’

Posted under Funny, The idiot box

feather coat

Yes, I saw Nasir Bilal Khan pimpin’ it. Omigosh, it was hillarious. I was waiting for Maghrib, and the tv was one. I browsed through, and stopped at Astro Ria because I saw Nasir Bilal Khan. Clad like a pimp with feather coat to boot.

It was debut for a new series on Astro Ria. I don’t really watch it, but I just stopped and gawk when I was channel hopping.

He had on this similar feather coat, of course not as nice as this one. It was burnt orange, and he looked just like a pimp with that smirk on his face.

I was laughing my eyes out because he looked just like a pimp, a very satisfied pimp at that.

And the one thing that I kept on thinking was, "Wouldn’t it be too hot in this tropical climate to don one?".

And oh, you should see the rest of the line up. Julie Dahlan acted in it, too, heavily charcoaled droopy lids and maroon lips and all.

I did not watch the thing, I just stopped when I saw Nasir Bilal Khan. He was really, really funny.

In pimpin’ sorta way *lol*

Wang Kelian, Perlis

Posted under Drive around, Journey, Photo shot!, Road trip

This happened a while back, in January to be exact. I thought I put up some photos of it here, but when I checked, I found I have not. I put up some photos of it over at my FB actually, so Skyjuice might have looked at this set.

But anyway, we went there during one weekend in January. We chose to go there since both of us had heard so much about this street mall, and we decided why not. After all, the place is only couple of hours away (on a very good traffic and street conditions, that is).

Winding road towards Wang Kelian

See the car positioned downwards? We were just coming down, and heading back towards civilization the main thoroughfare. This was taken on our way back from Wang Kelian, not heading towards it. It was very hot, and the husband dare stop because there was not much traffic during that time of the day. And believe it, you would have to go up or down similar winding road for about 30-40 minutes. I’ve seen busses coming up opposite way, makes me cringe. This is by no mean the windiest of them all, believe me *lol*

Then we arrive at the infamous Wang Kelian morning market. It started off at Malaysian border, and continuing over at the other side, on the Thai side of the border. Since we would be taking the car through driving up to some part of Northern Thailand, we have to have our pasports stamped and dated, plus pay insurance (about RM50 if I am not mistaken) for the car. The insurance could be used for up to one month from stamping, so are we going to go into the bordertown again? You betcha.

Anyways, here are some photos taken over at both sides of the market. As you can see, this is just like our ol’ pasar malam (night market) except it is during the day. An assorted array of things and food are sold there, and the vendors would start to pack things up around 1.30ish-2.00 pm. They started to come as early as 6.00 am, Malaysian time, 5.00am Thailand time to unpack their merchandise! Since it is very, very hot over there, coming as early as 7.00am to the market would be a very good thing for anyone who could not stand the heat (like me!)

I think you get the whole idea. I have tonnes of photos from this short trip, almost 300 odd that I have uploaded over to the photo gallery. There were some from our sojourn into Thailand, some gorgeous beaches, too gorgeous for words. I would, perhaps, put them up here some of these days.

Compact

Posted under Almost... About... A Review, Nostalgia...

serai

During the last couple of years of my stay before coming home, I stayed with this eccentric lady, let’s just call her Miss AL. This eccentric mature lady (she was way older than my Mom, even older than my Mom’s oldest sister) lives her life to the fullest. She partake the Ironman competition almost annually, so she rides her bicyle whenever she had the time, swim couple of times a week at the local, or rather over at the Greenwich, YMCA, took couple, or three dozens (I am NOT kidding!) health pills daily, eat organic foods (sometimes delivered from online orders, some bought at Stop n’ Shop nearby), plant vegetables during spring for summer harvest, and have live five persian cats!

When I moved in, she just finished remodeling the house, and that includes the kitchen. Almost all appliances in the kitchen were new. She just bought a new two door fridge (with the older fridge and a freezer stashed downstairs in the basement), a new electric range, and a new breadmaker. I woke up, some mornings, with the smell of freshly baked bread wafting upstairs from the kitchen. Heavenly, I must admit, but I have never used it. I could have used it to knead some dough for some doughnuts that I had wanted to make for awhile now.

Other than that, she also bought a GE trash compactor. I never used a trash compactor prior to this. I have never even seen a trash compactor bags . Yes, I am a country bumpkin. Before using that, Miss AL had assured me that anything could be thrown down the chute, and so being a country bumpkin that I am, I did just that. The accident occured one day while I was cooking something, probably chicken rendang. Or something that uses lemongrass, because I threw in the upper part of the lemongrass, and then buzz the thing.

It didn’t work. The thing did not buzz. Miss AL had to call in the trash compactor’s people, and they took it apart.

Enough to say, they found the lemongrass inside.

I felt so bad, but Miss AL brushed it off. She said she herself didn’t realize that lemongrass stalk would be too hard for the trash compactor to shred.

Heh.

Through this paid review, I am reminded (yet again) of how much fun I had while staying with Miss AL. I haven’t been in touch with her for the longest time, maybe I should now.
