Opps does happens

Well, let’s put it blindly, when the Daddy Tia *(aheam) man of the house plan for a trip, they do plan it right, perfect for their liking, even to the minute details what to do when things go CACA *(poo in French), at times, well 95% of the time, ain’t it right people?

Yeah, I know it’s rubbing salt to the Egoistic wound when we turn out to be right and one thing for sure, ensure there is always extra cash for THAT occurrences, like for example, having the bagging pilfered and the airline did nothing to compensate for that.

Well, Daddy Tia had his run of foul luck recently on the last trip, having the baggage not delivered to him when he reaches Abu Dhabi, and his bag found to be pilfered, and lost his camera, and other essential stuff, missed his flight connection because of the foul weather, and even worse, had his belt stolen right smack in front of him during boarding check-in where you have to remove your shoes, belts etc off you to go thru the X-RAY and metal detector in Paris!

Which is why I said to him, that his credit card travel insurance *(which he used to buy his flight itenaries etc) provided to him complementary does not insure him enough for that occurrences. Told him to get a proper GAP YEAR or ANNUAL TRAVEL INSURANCE when we left the UK last year. Well, what is the difference? A GAP YEAR insurance covers the whole period of travel whereas an ANNUAL TRAVEL INSURANCE covers you for a period of maximum of 90days per trip in a year.

Like I said, I told you so…and having the minimal coverage won’t do. So, he tried to cut corners and knowing travelling to the European Community, means he need full coverage, from Healthcare to Air Travel Disruption and delays are a common thing with travelling in the EU, even Scheduled Flights like Air France or Aer Lingus are known to be late or even love to cancel at any moments notice, or in the event of a huge sporting even like Football or Rugby, even the Prison Service go on strike just to watch England got clobbered by the South African in Rugby.

So put this blindly, he went in the rush of summer, when kids are about to go back to school, plus the horrible weather, and World Rugby Championship is in France.. what can NOT go wrong??

And so, the moral of this story is ladies, make sure you get some extra insurance, Home Insurance and Travel Insurance, especially travelling during the festive season, as some Home Insurance does cover your travel *(You don’t want to come back to an empty home raided by the Ali Baba & Co right), and travel insurance are just a small price to pay for that peace of mind, and like those who are resident in the UK, should try have a look at the Student Gap Year Insurance if you intend to come back for this Raya, as the Bus are OVERBOOKED, and they are selling tickets without having any seats available.

And so ladies, get that insurance, keep it shush, as a backup plan, and also.. make sure you have an AAM plan too.. just in case the car breaks down on the North-South Highway… etc. And yeah, Cover My Travels also do travel insurance over 70 too…unlike the rest of em.

Ahlan Wasahlan Al Abu Dhabi

Weah, since Mommy Tia does not want to upload the pictures of the travels, and she is too depressed to ‘Picasa’ all the rest of the pics in the library, I might as well put up something from where I was spending my last month or so… Destination Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates.

For those traveling on Etihad Airways heading towards the West, meaning London, Paris and Toronto, know that a 18 hour transit stop awaits the wiery traveler. And the sight of the cone welcomes the traveler onto the main terminal of Abu Dhabi International Airport. The main port of call for Etihad.

Cone of Abu Dhabi

For those who travel on Qatar Airways, Doha will be their port of call, and Emirates will call at Dubai, all within the United Arab Emirates. They use Dirhams, Riyals and Dinars respectively in the Emirates. Where upon which, they are still one country though! Funny huh? As if you have Dollars,Franks,Pesos and Pounds in the United States. Come to think of it, the UK has many alike.

Those who know, can demand an STPC aka a night-out layover from the airline should your Stopover Transit Passenger Connection is over 12 hours (8hrs for Business class) from your travel agent, whom will provide the airport transfer from the airport to the hotel and back compliments of your airline. It’s a right. So make sure you demand for it.They also have to provide you means in between.

As for me, I was put up at the Grand Continental Pink Flamingo Hotel, which boosts to be a 5-star but I gave it a 3.5-star rating instead. They provided me dinner and breakfast and well, I could not complain, right? Wrong.

Dinner

Waiting for the bus (aka Airport Transfer) to the hotel, I had to wait outside the terminal, which is about 40′c and that was at Maghrib (7pm). Plus the fact that the bus was overloaded, and I had to stand on the doorway for about half an hour. It was hot and cramped up.
sardine packed bus

Anyway, after another 30mins waiting to check in, I get my room key, 1408. Which was not a problem to me. I took my quick shower and a change of clothes, and head on down to have my grub. Which I forget to mention, the bathroom was up to class, and it was a buffet dinner. So what did I have?? STEAK of course. Loads of em. I was starving from the airline food they provided anyway.

Gone asleep…..

Yes, it’s daddy Tia here with ChePunkin Tia squabbling over who will nab over the computer, Astro Box and many more. Seems Mommy Tia has been busy recently, and with her back giving way. Yeah mommy Tia is suffering from a bad back and so, no travelling or cooking pictures to put up. Actually, too many of the pictures to edit and put up on the blog and recipes for the Ramadhan Break Fast Forum. Well, what to do with all those pictures eh??

Then, Che Pun King was rambling over at mommy Tia’s Laptop when she stumbled upon a site and of course, got her excited. So looking over, it was a bedding site from Vision Bedding with pictures of Sponge Bob and some dog. So what is the commotion all about I wondered?

It was a unique idea, that you can have your pictures printed on your Bedding. I know we can do Iron On Transfers for T-Shirts and some other memorabilia but on a full scale bedspread? This I gotta check out. Just look at this:

Bedding

What I said, Duvet cover with photos is really a cool idea, just like the Wallhog thing which I reviewed few months back. Honestly, how cool a gift can that be for a newly wed? Having their wedding photo on the blanket as a momento that they will cherish for a very long time.

They even do photo pillows in the form of either throw pillow or a sham. I really liked the idea, but I do need to ask how much it will cost me to ship it to Malaysia? Eh…. But it’s a sure pretty sight.

Maybe I could get a few of em, use the old Balamory pictures for the pillow and bedding for Tia or shall I use the Sponge Bob instead? I wonder. But surely it’s a great way to personalise the presents for this Christmas.
